The Photographer

Rob Olsen has been working part time as a photographer since 2009  and during that period he specialized in travel and boudoir photography. However, up until this point, his training had been a handful of random courses combined with on the job expereince. In 2010, he went back to school to do the Commercial Photography at Dawson College in Montreal, Quebec in order to fill in the gaps in his professional training.  He graduated in 2012 and switched to being a full time professional photographer with a studio in downtown Montreal.

Rob’s time at Dawson College had kindled a love of food photography. Having previous experience in both food preparation and bartending, Food Photography seemed like a natural way to expand his business. He has worked with several restaurants, chefs, and occasionally blogs about food and wine. While not a professional food stylist himself, Rob has been known to work with the chefs of small restaurants to improve the styling of their dishes.

Diversity is a a must in today’s business climate, a new photographer isn’t going to survive on Food Photography alone. Rob has done small contracts for a variety of local businesses, as well as head shots for Actors, Comedians, Business People and Authors.

His current role is the Staff Photographer for Geek Inked Magazine, which keeps him on the road a lot, traveling to various tattoo and geek related conventions, as an event photographer. Geek Inked covers everything from Toronto to Halifax and as far south as Boston.
